BASCOM HUNTER and the LOUISIANA TECHNOLOGY PARK are offering a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) intensive training on September 10, 2009.
The class is focused on providing entrepreneurs and small businesses the tools needed to write successful SBIR grants.
The SBIR program awards more than $2.2 billion annually to small businesses with innovative ideas. In addition, the State of Louisiana provides a matching 40% marketable tax credit for Louisiana SBIR award winners.
To win program funds, you must effectively communicate your idea to the targeted federal agency. The SBIR Intensive Training program consists of one eight-hour class where attendees will learn the following:
-The basic concepts of developing an SBIR grant application.
-The rules and principles governing the SBIR technical proposal.
-How to prepare a quality technical proposal that addresses all of the evaluation criteria.
-How to develop a program plan and a risk management plan.
-How to develop a commercialization plan.
-How to complete technology Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis.
-Students will learn how to develop a cost proposal.
Students are encouraged to bring a laptop computer. Desktop computers will be provided for those that do not have a laptop.
